FAQs

  • As a woman of the forest and mountains flowers have always been a symbol of love, light and hope to me. A midsummer dream of frolicking in a field of arrowleaf balsamroot, lupine, yarrow, larkspur and goldenrod emanates the feeling of radical joy. The creation of a flower bloom is a powerful metaphor for the healing cycle. When we face darkness, death and decay and we often feel alone in our process we remember that this is the space that provides the most fertile environment for the incubation of a seedling. That seedling represents your highest vision of vitality, perhaps just an idea or perception early in the making. Yet with time, patience, proper nutrients, sunshine and support from a living community that seed rises from it’s burial breaking out of the container of limitation it once knew. And so too do we, as we reframe our limiting beliefs and lean into trusting the process, willfully recycling decay into vitality. Just like the natural world around us, we are created with abilities to self-regulate and come back into balance. In this space of reclamation we find the true meaning of beauty, and like the most delectable flower you can imagine you will shine from the inside out, emanating sweet golden nectar into this world.

  • The style of bodywork that I offer is dynamic in nature. It is founded in the practices of Swedish, Connective Tissue and Neuromuscular Therapy. I can customize pressure, position and style based on what your body is requesting.

  • Contraindication refers to conditioners that clients may present that would indicate that it is not SAFE for them to receive massage treatment. Below I will elaborate on some specific conditions that physicians suggests health risk is associated with. If you meet one of the conditions below but still would like to receive bodywork, please reach out directly via email because typically I can offer adjustments to make it a safe and comfortable experience and by directly communicating with your primary care provider.

    -Contagious Diseases

    -Vomiting

    -Diarrhea

    -Fever

    -Severe Pain

    -Kidney Disease

    -Communicable Skin Conditions

    -Neuritis

-Specific Types + Stages of Cancer

*Contraindications are not black and white. As the state of our tissues are constantly evolving and each day we may present with different or new sensations, effective and safe bodywork is achieved through active tracking and awareness by the practitioner and open, consistent communication with the client. Please do not assume that you cannot safely experience a massage session with me if you are experiencing one of the conditions listed above. It is genuinely understood on a case-by-case basis and touch therapy can assist in well-being and pain management in many of these circumstances.

  • Reverse side-effects associated with massage may include minor bruising, muscle soreness and fatigue. It is rare to experience, yet it is important to be aware of the possibility.

  • While I am not currently licensed specifically in pregnancy massage, it is something that I am eager to add to my service offerings in the future.

In the meantime, I feel comfortable offering integrative massages to those in the first and second trimester of pregnancy if the following conditions are not present: Diabetes, Hypertension, Asthma, Thromboembolism

The session will be modified in sideline position as it is uncomfortable and contraindicated for expecting mothers to lay on their bellies and can lead to supine hypotensive syndrome. I have plenty of pillows and bolsters to make this a nurturing experience. I can effectively access most areas of the body in sideline making a full body session still possible.

While there are specific contraindications for massage while pregnant as mentioned above, for those without the listed conditions bodywork can provide a myriad of health benefits. Receiving touch can provide powerful support for pregnant women by inducing a relaxing state of mind, relieving back and hip pain, reducing labor pain during the birthing process, reducing anxiety and stress, improving mood, alleviating nausea and vomiting and grounding proprioceptive feedback.

With so much transition within the body and dynamic shifts in the emotional state for pregnant women, it is my belief that massage can be extremely therapeutic for clients who are cleared by their practitioner to receive bodywork.
